Fall Day

Appreciate the joy, colors, and beauty of autumn in this companion piece to “Snow Day” and “Spring Day.” Join a cast of friendly animals as they get ready for the approaching winter! Along the way, your students will experience changes in nature and the cycles of human emotions, and learn how important it is to “be prepared.”

Learn healthy habits with Chef Bon Appetite as he teaches rambunctious Chip the importance of eating right, and humdrum Tofutti the value of creative exercise. In this interactive WorkShop, theater meets nutrition as we encourage students to think "outside the box" and eat "inside the pyramid!"

A Class Act

This highly-adaptable WorkShop will address social issues and expand curriculum-based concepts. Dramatic play and fun improvisation games give students a creative outlet while also building self-respect, character, and teamwork. Through the Five Tools of an Actor, students will learn to use their energy and talents to become "a class act!"

In connection with ArtReach's production of IN THE SHADOWS OF EDISON: THE NIKOLA TESLA STORY, this interactive WorkShop combines theater and science in one electrifying experience! Learn about electricity, how it works, and how each and every human being has the "spark of life" in them. That spark can become a blaze of ideas when we work together to create exciting new inventions to make life better for people everywhere.

The Rough-Faced Girl Speaks

Grades: 2-8

45-minute Interactive WorkShop
Using the Native American Cinderella Story, The Rough-Faced Girl by Rafe Martin, students will "travel" to an Algonquin village and experience Native American culture through story, song, and interactive play.

Stop Bullying Me!

Presented with the help of the Northern Kentucky Heath Department, students will learn and practice methods to conflict resolution, self-respect, and respect for others through discussion, writing, and role-playing.

Pre-K “Play”

Grades: preK-2

6-8 weeks
Have one of our highly creative Teaching Artists come to your class to facilitate a mini-play based on one of three classic fairy tales: The Little Red Hen, Goldilocks and The Three Bears, or Mary and Her Little Lambs. By giving students an active role in developing the play, this residency is specifically designed to encourage confidence in reading, writing and sharing ideas with others.

Self-Esteem Through Self-Expression (Residency)

Grades: K-12

13 weeks
Using dramatic play as a tool to assist in the development of self-esteem, this Residency centers on theater games and word play, building concentration, physicality, vocal projection, articulation, poise, coordination and multi-tasking. A cumulative final performance is optional and will demonstrate dramatic skills learned from the program.

From the Page to the Stage

8-12 weeks
There's no better way to absorb fully the books you read in class than to take words from the page to the stage! In this multi-visit Residency, our Teaching Artist will help facilitate deeper understanding of state required reading by bringing characters to life as your class writes, directs, and acts out stories they will NEVER forget.

Langston Hughes

Grades: 6-12

6-8 weeks

Experience the Harlem Renaissance through the music, plays, and writings of Langston Hughes! Students will discuss, write, and share self-written poetry about social issues that affect them in the current communities in which they live. This intensive WorkShop encourages students to channel their thoughts, experiences and emotions into creative efforts. Selected student-written work will be presented in a culminating performance on the final day of the residency.

When I Grow Up…

Join LOCAL 12's Bob Herzog and a TCTC Teaching Artist and find out how to live your dream! Ever wonder what it might be like to be a lawyer? An actor? A teacher? A salesperson? A singer? A TV anchor? In this interactive performance, learn the importance of leadership, teamwork, work ethic and determination, giving your students the opportunity to expand their horizons and have a little fun along the way. Dance party anyone?!

Martin’s Dream

Grades: 2-12

Who was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., really? "Martin's Dream" answers this question and more as it brings this historical figure to life through the power of story, speech and song. Watch as Dr. King tells the story of his life, from his childhood in the Deep South all the way to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, where he delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. Created and performed by the talented and charismatic Deondra Kamau Means, this one-man show explores the real person behind the pictures, a funny, intelligent, passionate man whose faith, family and education made him one of the most revered people in our nation's history.

Demand your audience's attention just like George Washington Carver and turn your "Thoughts into Action!" Guided by a Teaching Artist from The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati, this original WorkShop Performance focuses on teamwork, leadership, and higher-order thinking skills. Get ready to challenge your student's ingenuity to create incredible inventions!
