Arts education has never been easier because WE COME TO YOU.
ArtReach, the theatrical and dramatic arts outreach division of The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati, is dedicated to bringing high-quality theater productions and workshops directly to schools and selected venues in order to increase student and family exposure to the arts. ArtReach will be touring these productions to tri-state area schools, libraries, community centers, museums and other facilities during the 2008-2009 school year:
September 16 - November 14, 2008
Washington Irving's autumnal masterpiece tells of the new schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane, his sweetheart Katrina, and the devilishly handsome Brom Bones. Written by award-winning Ohio playwright Kathryn Schultz Miller, this clever adaptation is loaded with hearty audience participation, is more funny than scary, and comes complete with a Headless Horseman! Thematic Connections: American History, Literary Classic, Art, Reading. Grades K-6.

You've heard of Cinderella, but did you know that this fairy tale has roots in cultures the world over? Doubted by everyone, our Algonquin "cinderella" must overcome the jeers and taunts of her beautiful sisters and fellow villagers to make her own way in the world, without the help of any fairy godmother. This is an inspirational tale about true beauty coming from within. Thematic Connections: Native American Culture, History, Reading, Language, Folktales. Grades K-8.

Treat your students to one of the best loved holiday stories of all time. With the creativity you’ve come to expect from ArtReach, your students will encounter Ebenezer Scrooge and his harrowing Christmas eve adventure. Born in Alabama, Coretta Scott King overcame childhood adversity in the segregated South and attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. A talented singer, she would go on to play an integral role in the American Civil Rights Movement, not only as the wife of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., but as an independent woman. The woman behind the man, Coretta continues to be an inspiration to the nation and the world. Thematic Connections: Women's History, Civil Rights, Biography, Reading, Language, Multi-Cultural, Government. Grades 3-8.

The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati's popular production of Tom Sawyer: an original musical is hittin' the road! Join us as we follow Mark Twain's classic character as he paints fences, fights pirates, and meets Becky Thatcher. A rip-roarin', knee-slapping good time awaits you and your students this spring! Join our mice friends as they explore each other's lives and decide once and for all if the grass is truly greener on the other side! Thematic Connections: Fairy Tale, Reading, Folktales, Friendship, Exploring Differences. Grades K-4.
Production Information
Our productions are performed by professional actors who travel to schools and theaters throughout the region. Each 45-50 minute production is designed for presentation in national venues as well as school facilities of all kinds. We bring a sound system that is compatible with your system or can stand alone. A question-and-answer period with cast members follows each show.
