The Children's Theatre Brings The Jungle Book to Life

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 22, 2003

CINCINNATI, OH — Featuring dazzling dance and African storytelling, The Children's Theatre will bring The Jungle Book to life at the Taft Theatre in March 2004. Gather around to enjoy the story of The Jungle Book as it unfolds right before your eyes. Make yourself comfortable beside the warm, crackling campfire and listen, as Dad begins to tell his children "just one more story" before bedtime. Suddenly, you will find the stage transformed into the deep, dark jungle and the animal characters appearing to give an interpretive dance of the narrated story. Listen carefully as Dad adds excitement and drama to the happenings of this famous tale.

The Children's Theatre first presented The Jungle Book in 1997. The 2004 version of the Rudyard Kipling story has been adapted by Mary Tensing. Last season, Mary Tensing collaborated with David Kisor on The Children's Theatre hit, The Rockin' Adventures of Peter Rabbit. She also wrote Androcles and the Lion, performed by The Children's Theatre in 2001, and Rapunzel. Jack Louiso, Artistic Director of The Children's Theatre, is directing and choreographing the intricate dance moves throughout the show, which are staged to the music of Bela Fleck, world-renowned contemporary jazz musician.

The Jungle Book is intended for the entire family and will be presented for the public at the Taft Theatre on Friday, March 19 at 7:30 PM, Saturday, March 20 at 2 PM and Sunday, March 21 at 2 PM. Single tickets for each production are $16, $14, and $5 and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, including Kroger locations, by calling (513) 562-4949, or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Partial season subscriptions to The Children's Theatre are also available by calling The Children's Theatre box office at 513-569-8080 ext. 10.
